My arowana has one of its gills slightly turned forward so it is out of place?

my golden arowana seems to have a problem with his gill as it looks inside out slightly. He used to eat really cleanly but now he leaves left over falling out from his mouth. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
